Steam / Diesel Day Sunday 7th August

The Scottish Industrial Railway Centre at Dunaskin will be open on Sunday 7th August 2016 as scheduled. However, due to ongoing issues with our regular steam Locomotive, NCB No. 10, we may have to operate our passenger service with one of our diesel locos, probably Powfoot No. 1

All other attractions at Dunaskin should be open as usual, including our Museum, where we have various railway and engineering artefacts on display, including the oldest steam locomotive we have, Dalmellington Iron Co No. 16, built in Kilmarnock in 1910.

We’ll also have our garden – scale model railway working. This is mainly steam powered, when visitors have the opportunity to view minature trains hauled by real live steam engines.

We also have a small layout for our younger visitors to operate.

Our souvenir shop will be open for business, and the tearoom has teas, coffees, soft drinks, confectionary, and light snacks.

We are now open every Sunday until the end of August, from 11am – 4pm.
