Fabulous Fireless

01. Fireless at MinniveySunday 5th July was a real red-letter day for the Group, when our Fireless locomotive was returned to steam for the first time in public. She was built in Kilmarnock by Andrew Barclay, Sons & Co. Ltd. as their works No. 1952 of 1928. Despite her age (87 years), the lovingly restored engine performed faultlessly, hauling a short demonstration train which consisted of a single Gunpowder van. She was operated at hourly intervals, to allow visitors to view the engine moving under her own power, with many capturing the moment on camera. Well done to all those involved in the restoration of this popular wee engine.
